2020 Poster Award Recipients
AMCP's eLearning Days platform showcased more than 200 posters that were to be presented at AMCP Annual 2020. Around 125 of these posters were evaluated for AMCP Foundation Best Poster awards. Abstracts and visual content were judged on scientific merit, strength of conclusions, clarity, and knowledge of subject matter. This virtual competition was conducted during AMCP eLearning Days, April 20-24.
Thanks to CVS Health, awards were be made in three categories: Best Student Pharmacist Poster, Best Resident or Fellow Poster, and Best Graduate Student Poster.
The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2020 AMCP Foundation Virtual Best Poster Awards.
The 2020 recipients are:
- Best Student Pharmacist Poster: Waverly Yang, a PharmD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy; "A Retrospective Analysis of Prescription Opioid Claims and Expenditures by Metropolitan Statistical Area Status and County using Texas Medicaid Pharmacy Claims Data."
- Best Resident or Fellow Poster: Kayla Thompson, PharmD, Pharmacy Resident at Gateway Health Plan; “Evaluation of Persistence, Switch Patterns, and Costs among Migraine Patients Utilizing Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) Inhibitors in a U.S. Medicaid Population."
- Best Graduate Student Poster: Shiyu Zhang, MS, a PhD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy; "Progesterone (17-alpha Hydroxyprogesterone Caproate) Utilization and Adherence in Women with a High-Risk Pregnancy: A Study of Two Databases."
“We’re honored to partner with the AMCP Foundation in sponsoring the 2020 Spring Best Poster Awards, which took place during the AMCP eLearning Days in April,” said Mindy Messina, PharmD, clinical vice president of health plans, CVS Health. “This year, we presented the awards virtually — in light of the COVID-19 pandemic — to these individuals and were amazed by their talent. Many congratulations to Waverly, Kayla and Shiyu on their poster submissions, and we wish you the best of luck in your future Pharmacy endeavors.”

Poster award recipients receive a $500 prize, a one-year AMCP membership, complimentary registration to the AMCP Nexus 2020, and an engraved plaque.
